| A lender has a right to foreclose when a borrower fails to make payments and/or fails to comply with other terms of a mortgage, such as the payment of real estate taxes and the payment of insurance premiums. Employment changes, unforeseen medical expenses, divorce, lawsuits, and financial mismanagement can take their toll on a borrower's ability to comply with those requirements.
